Each rally is linked with transport and logistics. The schedules are tight, same as the planning of the final preparations for the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge this year. Most of the logistics, existing out of 8 rally bikes, tools, parts and other supplies are more than 3.5 weeks ago packed and shipped in a 40ft container to be on time at the start of the 1st World Rally Championship. For one bike the deadline off 3.5 weeks ago came too early. This bike had to be flown in to Dubai last weekend.
Meanwhile we are already 2 days sitting at Sandstorm Motorcycles in Dubai with a team of 11 persons, riders and assistance, but no trace of our container here which should have been delivered here 4 days ago.
Yesterday Sam Sunderland (who had a number of stage victories in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge last year) was ready to race. His Honda (the bike which we flew in) was the only bike we could test.

For Sam it was his first practice on a bike after a seven week during foot injury again.
Obviously he rode a little uneasy and cautious at the beginning, but during the day it went better and better.
Some more practice miles before the start of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge would have been nice, but considering the circumstances it isn’t bad at all. Sam’s hungry for some more mileage and can not wait until the start of the rally.
